Tuesday 26 th April On Tuesday 26 th April our long awaited Annual Awards Evening of 2020 finally arrived, delayed for nearly two years by Covid restrictions. Our chairperson Rebecca Entwistle started the meeting by introducing us to Sally Thornton the minister of Whitefield Methodist Church, who had graciously agreed to help with the presentation of trophies and certificates of commendation. After handing out the numerous commended, highly commended and very highly commended certificates, trophies were presented to the winners of each section. Trophy winners in the print section were; Eileen Craig (Pictorial), Phil Yates (Portrait), Rebecca Entwistle (Natural History), Eileen Craig (Landscape), Phil Yates (Monochrome) and Kevin Price (Creative), with Eileen Craig’s Pictorial image of an Amaryllis flower awarded the overall winner. In the Digital Photographic Image section there was just one winner, our webmaster Phil Burns who won a trophy in all the sections including Monochrome, Pictorial, Portrait, Landscape, Creative and Natural History. Phil’s portrait image ‘Those eyes’ was judged the overall DPI winner. Other trophy winners were Phil Yates, who received the Brian Proctor AV trophy ‘Spring’, followed by winners with the highest yearly league points, the print section going to Eileen Craig and the DPI section going to Alan Flavell with the overall combined points in both sections going to Phil Burns. Our club meets every Tuesday evening from 7.30pm at the Oasis centre, Whitefield Methodist Church, Elm St., close to Morrison’s and Whitefield Metrolink station.
