to the Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain.
Members are entitled to:
Attend all lectures, outings and visits organised by the club.
Bring along friends to meetings of the club
Participate in all competitions and exhibitions
Receive copies of all literature published by the club
Every effort is made to assist those who are taking up photography as a hobby and experienced members are prepared to help beginners with practical
demonstrations and advice.
RULES (Rule 11 added in May 2010)
The name of the club shall be PRESTWICH CAMERA CLUB
The objects of the Club shall be to promote interest in the practice and art of photography.
The business of the Club shall be managed by a committee consisting of the following five Officers, Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson,
Hon. Secretary, Hon. Treasurer, Syllabus Secretary and three other members.
The retiring Chairperson will be an ex-officio member of the committee for one year.
All members of the committee shall hold office for one year and all other than the Chairperson shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting.
The Chairperson shall retire at the end of the twelve month period and be succeeded by the Vice-Chairperson.
The remaining members of the Committee shall be eligible for re-election, including the Chairperson, who may be elected to any vacant office.
POWER TO CO-OPT:
The Committee shall have the power to co-opt any member for any special purpose. The Committee shall have the power to fill
any vacancy which may occur in the committee.
Committee meetings shall arranged as and when necessary, usually every six weeks. A quorum shall be five members. Ordinary meetings
shall normally be held weekly. The Annual General Meeting shall be held in April each year an a quorum shall be twenty five percent of the total
A special General Meeting may be requisitioned by One-third of the members: 14 days notice in writing to be given to the Secretary.
The Secretary shall convene the meeting within seven days of the receipt of the notice.
The annual subscriptions shall be determined at the Annual General Meeting each year. First subscriptions due on admission to
membership and thereafter on the date of the Annual General Meeting. Members joining on or after November the 1st. to pay half fees. Any members
whose subscription is three months in arrears shall be deemed to have forfeited his or her claim to membership.
The Club shall hold a current account with a Joint Stock Clearing Bank or a Government Backed Bank to be decided by the committee.
Money shall only be withdrawn by means of a cheque, signed by the Treasurer and bearing the additional signature of either the Chairperson or Secretary.
The Treasurers accounts shall be open to inspection at any time, providing fourteen days notice is given in writing. The financial year of the club shall
close on the last day of February for the purpose of Audit.
The Auditor, who should not be a member of the Committee, shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting.
ALTERATIONS TO RULES:
No alterations or additions shall be made to these rules except at the Annual General Meeting or at a Special General
Meeting convened for that purpose. Notice of any proposed alterations shall be sent to the Secretary in writing, at least twenty one days before the
meeting and the Secretary shall notify each member of the Club at least seven days before the meeting at which the alterations or additions are proposed.
No alterations shall be made unless at least two thirds of the members voting shall support the proposal. Proxy votes shall be accepted.
A special general meeting shall be called if necessary to consider the question of dissolution. Dissolution shall be passed by a simple
majority. In the event of a tie the Chairperson shall have the casting vote. If the Club is insolvent, each member shall pay an equal share of the liabilities,
providing he or she has held unbroken membership for at least twelve months. If the Club is solvent the material assets will be sold to realise the
maximum amount and this available cash shall be divided equally amongst the existing members, providing they have held unbroken membership for at
least twelve months.
The club will accept junior members (defined as being between 12 and 16 years of age) only under the following conditions.
The Junior member shall always be accompanied by a parent or person nominated by the parent to act in “loco Parents”, who is also a member of
the Club and that Parent or Representative shall supervise the Junior member at all times.
It is the responsibility of the parent or representative to ascertain whether the event for that meeting is suitable for the Junior member.
The Junior member shall have been approved by the Committee.
The fee for a Junior member shall be half of the full rate for adults.
